All is Well

Nothing new going on at the Bozeman household. Emma Kathryn is doing well. She has slept good for the last two nights but we still haven't made it for three in a row so we will see what tonight holds. I had a wild hair yesterday and got all of my hair cut off. I was tired of having to wear it in a ponytail or clean vomit out of it all day so I had it cut off. Of course, since today is a new day I regret cutting it but it will grow back. I have never been one to really worry about a haircut. I have had short hair before and it has always grown back. I thought Micah was going to have a duck when he saw it this morning. He had to stay at the store late last night so I was in bed when he got home so I made it through the night without his fussing. He has learned it's best not to say much about my hair because I am going to do what I want with it. Hope everyone has a great, safe weekend.

Pics

Pictures

I took Emma Kathryn to have her picture made yesterday. Mom and Lindsey went with me to help. I didn't know how she would do because of her fussy nature but she did great. I was shocked. I never thought we would be able to get such good pics. They are precious. Lindsey has the CD from the photo shoot but I will get it back today and hopefully gets some of the pics posted tonight or tomorrow.
She also slept so good last night. It was wonderful. She ate at 8:30 and was asleep by about 9:15. Then she woke up at 12:30, ate and went right back to sleep. I thought wow this is great but I sure dreaded the next feeding because I new I was due for a fuss. Then at 4:30 she woke up to eat again. I really dreaded her eating now because not only had she not fussed all night but she also just slept for 4 hours. Amazingly she ate fussed about 30 min and back to sleep she went. It was wonderful. I hope we can keep this up. Most of the time if she sleeps good it is only for one night but maybe we can make it 2 in a row. Hopefully since she is getting older and a bit fatter she will start being more content. I also swaddled her last night and I think it helped. We did this when we first brought her home but then stopped because I didn't think she liked it. Yesterday I read some articles on Google (Yes I was desperate for some sleep) that said swaddling helps babies sleep who have reflux or are over stimulated. Emma Kathryn is both so I figured I would give it a shot again. Needless to say we will be swaddling again tonight. Its not easy to get Houdini's arms swaddled and usually by the time she wakes up she had managed to get them out but she does go to sleep faster this way so we will continue to try this method.
The laundry fairy didn't stop at my house this week so I have piles wating for me and they don't seem to be washing themselves while I blog so I better get busy. Hope to have pics to post later.

This and That

It's been a few days so I have a bit of catching up to do. Emma Kathryn is doing well. For the past several nights she has decided to be awake and fussy from11:00 pm - 3:00 am. This is a rough time to be up but I am surviving.

I got my flowers planted and they look great. I hope they survive. I tend to have a black instead of green thumb. I have also been working in a garden. My grandparents plant a garden every year and I decided to help them this year. We have planted corn, green beans, butter beans, cucumbers, turnip greens, okra and squash. We still have tomatoes, peppers, watermelons and cantaloupes left to plant. I have enjoyed spending time with Granny and Papaw. Most of the time Papaw and I work in the garden and Granny keeps the baby. I am guilty of not spending as much time with them as I should have in the past but am determined to remedy that since I'm no longer working. More often than not their generation gets kicked under the rug but if we would spend time with them and learn from them we would be much better off.

Emma Kathryn attended her first baseball game today. Ethan's team played Levi's team and Houston had a game also. We decided it would be a good time to go watch so we could kill 3 birds with 1 stone. She really enjoyed it. She took in all of her surroundings. We have been outside a good bit but every time she has been asleep. This was the first time she was awake and she loved it. I'm glad she did because now we have yo watch Caleb, Hayden, Sydney and Mackenzie play. Hopefully we can go to their games before the weather is to hot.

It's time to get munchkin to bed so farewell for the night.

1 Month

I can't believe my baby is a month old today. We took her for her one month Dr. visit on Thursday. Everything went well. She weighs 8lb and 15 oz and was 21 3/4 in long. She is sleeping a bit better at night but we still have a way to go. She has been fussy between 8:00-1:00 lately but maybe we will be through this stage soon. When she sleeps, she sleeps better and longer now so that helps.

After our Dr. visit Thursday we went to Browns and bought flowers to plant. I got 2 pretty hibiscus trees I can't wait to plant. I am going to put them in my pots on the porch. I hope to plant them tomorrow.

Emma Kathryn is getting fussy so I better go for the night.

Easter

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter. We have had a busy day. The Lord blessed us with beautiful weather and a wonderful Sunday morning service. We had a church full of people. It was great. Emma Kathryn woke up during church this morning and I was so afraid she would start screaming but she didn't. Thankfully I had a bottle ready and she ate and then went back to sleep.

After church we all came home to eat lunch. Aunt Dana, Jimmy, Anna Lee, Ethan, Abby, Aunt Kristi, Zac, MawMaw, Uncle Phillip and Aunt Lindsey ate lunch with us. It was yummy.

I decided last night that I would no longer nurse Emma Kathryn. I can't handle her vomiting after feedings and feeling that it is my fault. We gave her a formula bottle twice last night and twice thus far today and so far no severe vomiting. Maybe my milk and her just doesn't agree. I pray this will help her to feel better and sleep better. I will miss the bonding time it gave us but the bonding isn't worth it if she is going to scream and vomit for hours following feedings.

We have our Easter program at church tonight so everyone is busy getting ready for it today. It is always wonderful. If you have no plans for the night you should consider attending. It starts at 6:00 pm @ Berry Freewill Baptist Church. Hope to see you there.

My New Best Friend

As a new mother, next to lack of sleep, the hardest thing for me to adjust to is that it now takes double the time to prepare to go somewhere. For example, today I was going to take Emma Kathryn to the store to see Micah and the people he works with. I fed her and got her to sleep thinking I would have time to get ready while she slept. She had other things in mind. She slept long enough for me to shower and dry half of my hair but that was it. She started getting fussy and so I stopped getting ready and tried to calm her down, with no luck. I knew Micah was waiting on us and if we were going to get to Cordova before closing time I had to come up with a solution fast. That's when I remembered my Snuggle. If you have a baby and haven't used one I highly recommend it. I put her in that thing and she was asleep in about 2 min. I then was hands free to dry my hair and get my makeup done. Why hadn't I thought of that thing earlier I don't know but I will never forget it.
I had always seen parents using these but had never been a fan. To me it always looked uncomfortable for the baby because they were just hanging there. Boy was I wrong. I will be using the Snuggle while I do laundry, cleaning, getting ready and so forth. Now I no longer have to try to hold her with one hand and fix hair with another.

Well I guess I will stop blogging for tonight. My baby is sleeping soundly for now and hopefully we will have another good night.

God is so good!! Last night we had a wonderful church service with wonderful news. We had someone near and dear saved yesterday and is to be baptized on Sunday. Then there was no screaming last night, praise God. Emma Kathryn slept so much better. We were up every couple of hours for her to eat because she still vomited every feeding but she didn't scream between them. She even let me put her in her bed to sleep. I think I had forgot how good it felt to sleep in a bed.

Since it is such a beautiful day we are going to meet Aunt Lindsey and Maryalice at Berry to walk. I can't wait to get back to a normal schedule with some outdoor time and exercise. I didn't realize how boring sitting in the house could be. Maybe the pretty, warm weather will hang around for a while.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Take time to enjoy God's wonderful creation.
